CARRIS launched an app that allows mobile renew of transport passes and tickets. It is the first transport operator in Portugal to launch its own application with this functionality.
The development of the CARRISway mobile app was carried out by DXspark in partnership with the CARRIS Information Technology team. It follows a close relationship that has provided the transport operator with advances in the way it interacts with its clients, through Digital Transformation and Digital Experience.
According to Ricardo Amado, Executive Director of DXspark, "The partnership between DXspark and CARRIS is an emblematic example of how technology, when applied strategically, has the power to transform people's daily lives. Our collaboration in creating the CARRISway app reflects our joint commitment to not only advancing digital transformation in the public transport sector, but also ensuring that these innovations result in tangible improvements in the user experience. This project goes beyond technology alone; it touches on the essence of making daily life more accessible, convenient and tailored to the needs of users. We are proud to work side by side with CARRIS, demonstrating that technological innovation, when aligned with a deep understanding of customer needs, can lead to significant advances for society as a whole."
For Pedro de Brito Bogas, Chairman of the Board of Directors of CARRIS, "this is a very important milestone in the company's history, not only because we are creating a service that is produced internally by CARRIS, which was designed by our teams, which says a lot about our commitment to innovation, but also, and mainly, because it represents our priority in the continuous improvement of the service and travel experience for our Customers."
CARRISway allows the loading of passes and tickets via smartphones with compatible NFC technology. It is available for Android and iOS systems. Payments can be made by MB WAY or by credit card, and it is possible to load several other transport tickets on the Navegante card, including free tickets.
The app makes the daily lives of public transport users easier, as there is no longer any need to travel to the usual places, such as ATMs, CARRIS stores or other charging points, and they can make purchases via the application.
