As the year winds down our focus falls on solidifying the Tech we have been relying on throughout the year in our Tech Radar, rather than adding new entries and experimenting with new technology.
Our commitment to delivering the most value possible to our clients, has led us to increase the usage of the great packages available in the Umbraco Marketplace, allowing us to deliver quality in our CMS projects, faster and more efficiently. To reflect this, we have upgraded Umbraco Commerce and uSkinned in our Radar.
As Microsoft's deadlines on Xamarin's sunsetting draw close and as we help our clients migrate their hybrid mobile apps to MAUI and the newer versions of the .NET platform we have accordingly positioned all versions of Xamarin in the Phase Out ring, while adding .NET Cross Platform to the adopt tier as the direct replacement to Xamarin Native.
In the same vein, we have been Phasing Out the usage of Visual Studio App Center since Microsoft's announcement that it will retire the service in 2025. We are migrating the usage of features from App Center to alternatives like Azure Pipelines for automated builds and Firebase Crashlytics for diagnostics, to name just a few.
To no surprise after our recent announcement of the creation of our AI Factory the continuous efforts we develop in this segment are reflected by the addition of Azure AI Studio to our Adopt tier. More updates related to AI can be expected in the upcoming months.
Finally, we are evaluating Web Components as a sporadic alternative to other javascript/html/css component libraries while also strengthening our knowledge of this new W3C standard component model for the web. As many libraries will start to use this web api as the base for their own implementation of components, knowledge of it's inner workings will be in high demand.
